Never underestimate the effects of your generosity

The holidays can be a particularly difficult time for many people. With images of bounty and celebration everywhere, those in need find themselves on the outside, looking in, lonely and forgotten. Thank you notes from recipients tell us that even a small check can make a big difference. Here is what people have been saying:

I don’t know who you are and how you got my name but your gift was a very pleasant surprise. My son and I will be using your gift this holiday season and are greatly thankful for your generosity.
Thank you so much for your wonderful gift! Without your generosity I would be hard pressed to make it through the last week of the year.
Thank you so much for the Holiday Fund. I’ve been struggling with homelessness for nearly two years now, that’s my 1 1/2 year old’s whole life. Last Christmas we had nothing but thanks to the Berkeley Holiday Fund I was able to get gifts for both my daughters this year. We had a wonderful Christmas. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing the holiday fund with me. It really makes a difference when you are a senior on low fixed income. I appreciated your helpful gift very much.
It is difficult for me to say which means more to me; the unexpected $40.00 check or the fact that there are people in this world who do such incredibly nice things like surprising a neighbor in need with such a generous gift. The fact that I am not even known to you makes it even more meaningful. Your kind and generous act was Christmas Spirit in the truest form.
Since I live on SSDI and a small amount of part-time work I’m grateful when you send me a holiday check. Thank you very much.
This Christmas it will mainly go toward a present for my mother. She’s always first-and foremost in my family in terms of gift-giving. Yet always last when it comes to the rest of us in our considering what might light up her day when the Big Event rolls around. So unfair; which is why I’m determined to pleasantly surprise her this time out.
My name is *** *** and I go to Berkeley High. I just want to thank you for the money that you donated to my family and I. Even though it doesn’t seem like much, I want you guys to know that it has really helped out and it really means a lot to me. It’s nice to know that there are people out there that help families in need. I hope that you continue to keep helping families like us. I hope you guys know that what you are doing for all the families in need is very kind.
I wanted to take this time to thank you for the $35. It has helped me more than you know in these difficult times. Thanks again.
